Description

The Cub Cadet Ultima ZT1-54 widens the deck to 54 inches without raising the price ceiling unreasonably, making it one of the better-value zero-turns for homeowners with bigger lawns. The wider deck reduces overlap and pass count, which is why 4-acre yards that take 90 minutes on a tractor often finish in under an hour with the ZT1-54.

The 24 HP Kohler 7000 Series V-Twin engine is matched to dual hydrostatic transmissions, the standard zero-turn drive layout. Independent hydraulic motors at each rear wheel let the mower spin around its center axis (true zero-turn) — a transformative difference if you are stepping up from a steering-wheel tractor.

The fabricated steel deck is welded from heavier-gauge plate than typical stamped decks, with a deeper cutting chamber for better mulching and side discharge. Twelve cut-height positions between 1 and 4.5 inches are dialed in with a dash-mounted lever. A high-back seat with adjustable armrests, lap-bar suspension, dual cup holders and a soft rubberized foot platform keep the operator fresh through long mowing sessions.
